Brag and Praise for my Boy Hughes

Wow my writing was quite bad back then. 😀

Title: A Little Brag and Praise for my boy Hughes

Ok, so I need to brag on my boy at something he did this morning.
I also think it was a break through with our bond and it has grown stronger.

I decided to take a walk this morning like every morning. I been walking every morning and afternoon. For Hughes’s sake and my own. I get dressed and as I walk out into the living room pulling on my hijab I say, “Hughes, let’s go for a walk.”

He jumps up and runs over to me waiting for the leash. I smile and sit down on the couch to put on my boots. Grandma is sitting at her
computer which is in the living room and asks curiously, “Where you going?”

“For a walk,” I reply as I pull on one boot.

“Oh, I better go.”

“Definitely!”

The past few days as well Grandma has accompanied us on our walks as well. Good for her since she hardly does anything.

I am waiting for Grandma to get ready. Finally, we all are ready and we head out. I take the trash down first then off we go. On our normal route.

Down past the front office, pass the mailboxes and down a little hill until we turn right, which Hughes does all on his own, which is good for me or we would still be looking for that corner. LOL

Anyway, we turn and head down, now about half down that side walk, this side walk keeps going for a few steps and then turns to the left
and curves around the lake. Well Hughes suddenly stops at that  halfway point down the walkway.

I am confused and say, “Come on Hughes, hop up.” Nothing.

Grandma comes up from behind and asks, “Whats going on?”

“I don’t know,” I reply, thinking it was one of his stubborn moves again! OMW! I am going to go crazy with this dog!

Grandma comes up from around us and peers down the sidewalk then exclaims, “There is a cat in defense mode, the back curved and everything standing as still as a statue.”

“Good boy!” I exclaim to Hughes and rub him on his sides and back. Wow. Of course, I would never have known. We cut through the grass careful not to go close to that cat just in case it wanted to pick a fight with us and continued on our walk around the lake. We took loads
of nice pictures and Hughes was the best! Ignoring the little dogs that always bark at us when we pass, and we headed home.

We got into the house and I praised Hughes for giving him a few carrots.

Wow, what an interesting walk.

However, I also have a question, if my Grandma was not there. How would of I
handled this? I was about to correct him forwards for stopping for nothing. However, obviously it was for something. I guess I will stay in tune with his moves really. See how he acts before correcting. However, what an amazing walk! It was a good one. Made me also feel a lot
better since I woke up feeling depressed and not in the best of states.

I also have more good news, when I put the harness on Hughes this morning it felt looser so he is losing weight, slowly but surely! Yea!
I am going to get him weighed today at Pet smart.
