Ramadan Facts For Thursday and Friday

Thursday 06 April 2023

Since prayer is increased during Ramadan, I thought I would share this fact about prayer in Islam.
Standing during prayer is an obligatory pillar which cannot be omitted. It is not permissible for anyone to pray sitting unless he is unable to stand, or standing is very difficult for him, or he is sick and there is the fear that his sickness may become worse if he prays standing up.
That also includes a paralyzed person who is unable to stand at all, and an elderly person for whom it is difficult to stand, and a sick person who will be harmed by standing because it will either make his sickness worse or delay his recovery.
The basic principle concerning that is the report narrated by al-Bukhaari (1050) from ‘Imraan ibn Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: I had haemorrhoids, and I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about praying. He said: “Pray standing; if you cannot, then sitting; and if you cannot, then lying on your side.”
“Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear” (Quran: 2:256)

Friday 07 April 2023

Increasing your remembrance of Allah (God) is encouraged during this month in hopes that it will continue afterwards.

“O You who believe! Remember Allah with much remembrance”
{Surat Al-‘Aĥzāb33: Verse 41}

This could be as simple as doing dikhr (remembrance) while you’re in the car going to work, or in the check-out line at the grocery. Any and all free time could be the vehicle you use to develop your remembrance of Allah.

A few common things you can say are:

SubhanAllah or SubhanAllahwabihamdihi “Glory be to God” or “God is flawless”,

It is recorded that the reward for saying this is that a tree will be planted for you in Paradise. Another hadith records that whoever says this 100 times a day, his/her sins will be forgiven even if they were as much as the foam of the sea [Bukhari].

– Alhamdulillah (“All praise is for God.”)

The stated reward for this one is that your scales will be tipped in your favor on the Day of Judgment.

– La hawlawa la quwwataillabillah (“There is no power or might except by God.”)

You will enter through a special door in Paradise if you often use this remembrance.

SubhanAllah (x33) “Glory be to God” or “God is flawless”,

Alhamdulillah (x33) “All praise be to God”

Allahu akbar (x34) “God is great”

This is commonly said after all prayers and before you go to sleep.
