Volcanoes and Challenges: A Homeschool Day Full of Eruptions and Emotions

Lately, I’ve been feeling a bit overwhelmed by this whole homeschooling journey. Questions keep running through my mind: “What should I teach? How should I teach? Is it enough for this subject?” It often feels like I’m floundering in a vast ocean, just trying to keep my head above water. I know deep down that, with time, things will fall into place. But in this moment, I just feel a bit useless, even helpless, worrying constantly about whether I’m doing enough for my kids.

Monday morning, however, was a small victory. Maria needed to complete her homework for her Arabic class. After breakfast, we dove into her studies. She struggled a bit at first, trying to match the Arabic words with their English translations. But slowly, things started to click for her. By the end, she was breezing through her short tests and even scored a perfect 100%! It was such a proud moment for both of us.

After that, the girls played outside for a bit while I put Safa down for her nap, then it was quiet time

In the afternoon, Maria and I attended a volcano talk at the library. The speaker, Mr. D, did an amazing job explaining what volcanoes are, how lava flows, and all the fascinating details about them. The kids seemed to really enjoy the session and learned a lot, I even learned some facts as well.

The most exciting part came towards the end when everyone got the chance to create their own volcanoes. Watching the little ones build and “erupt” their creations was such a joy!

As soon as the volcano fun was over, we had to rush home for Maria’s Arabic class.

Evening was a relaxing time, the girls played around until bedtime, then off to nighty night we all went.
