Harmony and Real Talk: Why Coldplay and Eminem Are My Lifelong Favorite Artists

My favorite artists have shifted over time, but two that I still listen to a lot are Coldplay and Eminem. Coldplay stands out to me because their music feels so well-composed. The way their instrumentals blend with the vocals creates something unique and beautiful. Their songs are not over-the-top or too loud, but rather, they have this perfect balance that’s just enjoyable to listen to. Plus, their lyrics often have deep meaning, and there’s a certain peacefulness in their sound that I really appreciate. Coldplay’s music has been a source of comfort for me in both hard times and good times. I’ve often sought refuge in their calming sounds when life felt overwhelming or when I simply wanted to unwind. I hope to attend one of their concerts someday! I tried to go when I was 18, but unfortunately, the concert was canceled. I still hold onto the hope that I’ll get to see them live and even meet them one day.

Eminem has been a favorite of mine since I was 10 years old. His music is much more raw and real. While many artists focus on themes like women, drugs, fame, and sex, Eminem goes deeper, rapping about personal struggles, societal issues, and life experiences that are relatable. His lyrics hit home because they’re so honest, and he has a way of being vulnerable through his music, which I love. There’s just something about his openness and willingness to tackle tough subjects that makes his music impactful for me.

Eminem’s music has helped me through some of the hardest times in my life. When I was feeling down, depressed, or lost, his songs became my go-to for comfort. Even as a child, when I was very sick and thought to die, I turned to his music. I was connected with the Make-A-Wish Foundation during that time, and my first request was to meet Eminem. Although that didn’t happen—my grandmother pushed for something more feasible, and we ended up choosing a tandem bike instead—my connection to his music remained strong. It gave me strength during a period when I needed it most, and I’ll always be grateful for that.”

instead—my connection to his music remained strong. It gave me strength during a period when I needed it most, and I’ll always be grateful for that. His upbringing was similar to mine, and that’s one of the reasons I feel so connected to him. I hope to meet him one day or even attend one of his shows if he decides to do more.
