Ramadan Islam Facts – Day 19: What is Tahajjud?

Tahajjud is a special and voluntary night prayer that holds great rewards. It is performed in the last third of the night, before Fajr (the dawn prayer).

📖 The Importance of Tahajjud

Allah praises those who pray at night:
“They forsake their beds to call upon their Lord in fear and hope, and they spend (in charity) out of what We have provided them.” (Quran 32:16)

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
“The best prayer after the obligatory prayers is the night prayer (Tahajjud).” (Muslim)

🌙 Why is Tahajjud Special in Ramadan?

  • The last third of the night is when Allah descends to the lowest heaven and responds to supplications.
  • Du’as made at this time are highly accepted.
  • It is a chance to seek forgiveness, ask for guidance, and strengthen your connection with Allah.

🕌 How to Pray Tahajjud

  1. Wake up before Fajr – The best time is the last third of the night.
  2. Perform Wudu (Ablution) – Stay in a state of purity.
  3. Pray at least two Rak’ahs (units of prayer) – You can pray more in sets of two.
  4. Make heartfelt Du’a – Ask Allah for forgiveness, guidance, and anything your heart desires.
