Hello, Hello!

Since I last wrote, a lot has happened. We made a big move at the end of May — packed up our life in California and headed all the way to Michigan. It still feels a little surreal sometimes. The move was mainly for Ahmed’s work, but also for a change of pace — and for the girls, especially. We wanted them to have a different kind of school experience this year, so we decided to try public school. So far, it’s been a mix of new routines, new faces, and a lot of learning (for all of us!).

It’s been busy settling in, getting everyone adjusted, and figuring out how life looks here —

The past few months have been packed — between figuring out new schedules and tackling all the usual house stuff, the days have just flown by. The house we moved into has so much character — it was built in 1946 — and you can tell it’s been well cared for over the years. Which is wonderful… and also a little daunting, since all that care tends to come with a price tag. So, we’re taking it one project at a time, fixing things little by little as we can.

Between the house and the girls settling into school, life already felt full — but I also started something just for me. I picked up an old sport I haven’t played in about 15 years: goalball. I used to play all through middle and high school, traveling for tournaments and competitions, but after graduating, I never really found a team nearby.

That changed here. I found a local group and decided to jump back in — and wow, it felt amazing. I even played in my first tournament in 15 years, and our team won first place! It was such a rush to be back on the court, hearing the ball, moving in sync with my teammates, and remembering why I loved the game so much in the first place.

Well, that is all that has really happened, besides getting sick of course!

I hope to be back soon.
