Our Laborday Weekend

Saturday

This past Saturday was filled with adventure at California’s Great America. The day kicked off with a ride on the carousel, and the girls absolutely loved it—their smiles were infectious as they spun around to the music.

Maria and I decided to take things up a notch with the Sky Flyer. It’s a ride that’s like a zip line, but with a twist: you’re strapped in parallel to the ground, face-down, flying back and forth. It felt like soaring through the sky, adding an exhilarating rush of adrenaline.

Afterward, we joined a small car race, which was a lot of fun and got our competitive spirits going. But the real highlight of the day was toward the end: the Gold Striker rollercoaster. Maria, feeling brave, wanted to try it, and it was her very first rollercoaster experience! She was thrilled by the ride, although she admitted her stomach was a bit unsettled afterward.

It was a long day filled with fun, excitement, and a few firsts—a perfect way to spend Saturday.

Sunday

After a long day at California’s Great America on Saturday, Sunday was all about relaxing and unwinding. We started the morning with a trip to get bagels—a simple but delicious way to kick off the day.

Later, we headed to a serene riverside spot we recently discovered. It’s a little nook off the main path by the river, where we can watch small inflatable boats and kayaks drift by. This spot is perfect for some quiet time, away from the crowds. Everyone, including Astro, loved it. We spent time playing in the water, tossing small rocks, and just soaking in the peaceful atmosphere.

We returned home afterward and spent the rest of the day relaxing. It was the perfect way to recharge after a busy and exciting Saturday, enjoying both the tranquility of nature and the comfort of home.

Monday

Today, Monday, was another lovely day spent outdoors. We started the morning with breakfast at IHOP, which has become our local favorite spot to enjoy a meal together.

After breakfast, we decided to explore a nearby park that features beautiful nature trails running alongside another river. As we walked, we stumbled upon a sandy beach by the river, and the girls couldn’t resist playing in the sand. Maria even met another little girl and quickly made a new friend, and they played together for a while.

After their fun on the beach, we made our way back to the main area of the park, where the kids had a blast on the playground. Now, we’re back home, settling in for the evening and getting dinner ready. It’s been a relaxing and enjoyable start to the week.
